SWARTHMORE, Pa.--Swarthmore College Field Hockey battled the No. 11 Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference matchup.
The Garnet earned seven penalty corners and took 10 total shots, seven on goal, but couldn't get any past F&M's goalies.
The Diplomats tallied seven goals in the first half, were kept to one goal in the second half, and went on to win 8-0. F&M struck early, netting a goal in the fourth minute and then getting a pair in quick succession in the 13th and 15th minutes. The Garnet kept the Diplomats at bay for the next 15 minutes, but F&M rallied for four goals in the final five minutes of the period.
Offensive opportunities presented themselves to the Garnet in the second half. After getting one shot on goal in the first period, the Garnet attack quickly peppered F&M with four shots on goal in the first 10 minutes of the second.
Riya Garg had two shots on goal in the second half, including a laser of a shot from the left wing but had it turned away.
The Garnet hit the road on Wednesday, traveling to Chestertown, Maryland, for a 4 p.m. date with Washington College.
