SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Soccer rifled off 36 shots against the visiting Eastern University Eagles en route to a 3-0 win on Sunday evening.
The Garnet limited the Eagles to just five total shots and one on goal. Eagles' goalkeeper Adrianna Rowlands did all she could to keep Swarthmore off the board, making 17 saves, but finally conceded a goal in the 41st minute. Swarthmore senior Hannah Lichtenstein tallied her second goal of the year by finishing off a rebounded shot from Marin McCoy.
While the offensive opportunities continued to abound for the Garnet into the second half, Swarthmore's lead was still only one goal with a little more than five minutes remaining in the game. Garnet freshman Lizzie King also found the back of the net via a rebounded shot, upping Swarthmore's lead to 2-0 with 5:05 left in the game.
The third and final goal for the Garnet came with 16 seconds left as freshman Grace Taylor slid a cross from right to left across the goal mouth to the back post where it was tapped in by Louise Rosler.
Swarthmore (2-0) travels to the University of Scranton for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.
