SCRANTON, Pa.--
Marin McCoy factored into all three goals of Wednesday evening's 3-2 double overtime win at the University of Scranton.
McCoy scored the game-winner in the 106th minute, slipping in a shot through traffic and between the Scranton goalkeeper's legs. McCoy also scored Swarthmore's first goal in the 72nd minute and assisted
Seneca Kinn-Gurzo's goal in the 80th minute.
The Garnet out-shot the hosts 33-11, but the Royals tallied the first goal in the 65th minute. Swarthmore responded just over six minute later with sophomore
Alex Frost setting up McCoy for a shot blasted in from the left wing.
However, Scranton scored again less than three minutes later. Five minutes after, McCoy found Kinn-Gurzo for the equalizer from the top of the box. Closing out the end of regulation, the Garnet got off three more shots, but couldn't break the tie. Swarthmore took three more shots in the first overtime and then snapped off four more in the second half of overtime prior to scoring the game winner.
The Garnet earned a corner kick in the start of the 106th minute and went short. O'Brien inserted to McCoy who dribbled in and knocked in the game-winner.
Amy Shmoys finished with four saves in net for Swarthmore.
The Garnet, now 3-0, play in a tournament in Hoboken, New Jersey, this weekend against NYU and Babson.
