FULL RESULTS
FREDERICKSBURG, Va.–Over the weekend, the Swarthmore College women's tennis team competed at the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament hosted on the campus of the University of Mary Washington.
Emma Kassan,
Elise Talley,
Maria Cuervo and
Shirline Wee all competed in the championship singles draw. Talley won her first-round match by a convincing 6-2, 6-0 score while Kassan, Cuervo and Wee reached the second round of the consolation draw.
Anna Scheibmeir and
Ashley Gao both reached the quarterfinals in the Blue 1 singles bracket. In round one, Scheibmeir earned a 6-1, 6-1 rout and Gao forced a third set, ultimately winning 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 over her opponent from Mary Washington.
Rachel Hechinger dropped one game as she reached the Blue 2 singles quarterfinal and
Rachel Bronkema also made the final eight in the Blue 3 draw.
In championship doubles, Gao and Wee combined for an easy 8-2 win in the round of 32 while the duo of Kassan and Scheibmeir won two matches in the consolation bracket, capped off by a 9-8 triumph over a team from Johns Hopkins.
Swarthmore looks to return to the Centennial Conference championship when it resume competition in the spring.
