COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.–For the first 15 minutes of Wednesday's contest at Ursinus, the Swarthmore College field hockey team played an even game with the 15th-ranked Bears, but ultimately fell by a 7-0 score.

The Garnet earned a pair of penalty corners in the early going and registered the game's first shot on goal, a Kathleen Carmichael attempt that was turned away by the Ursinus keeper.

The Bears countered with two corners and shots on goal of their own, which were initially denied by Zelda Bank, who registered 10 saves in the contest, but the hosts finally broke through at 18:28 and struck again about a minute later. Ursinus scored once more before the half and added insurance goals in the second to remain undefeated against Centennial opponents. Clare Perez also registered a shot for Swarthmore in the game.

The field hockey team remains on the road for another Centennial showdown on Saturday, Sep. 23 at McDaniel. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
