HOBOKEN, N.J.--Swarthmore College Women's Soccer scored six goals in a shutout win over Babson College on Sunday afternoon. The 6-0 win Sunday and a 2-1 win over NYU on Saturday earned the Garnet the Stevens Engineering Cup.
Marin McCoy was named the Offensive MVP of the tournament.
The Garnet overwhelmed the Babson College Beavers 28 shots to four. Freshman
Lizzie King led the Garnet with a brace, scoring in the 16th and 36th minutes.
Sydney Covitz,
Marin McCoy,
Sophia Stills and
Bellara Huang all added a goal as well. McCoy recorded a pair of assists.
Amy Shmoys got the win in goal, and
Sommer Denison played her first collegiate minutes in goal, recording a save and a clean sheet in the second half.
Covitz opened Swarthmore's scoring in the 13th minute and King followed with a score in the 16th minute. McCoy scored in the 25th minute and King completed the brace in the 36th minute.
In the second half, fellow freshmen Stills and Huang added goals in the 56th and 62nd minutes.
Swarthmore is back in action on Wednesday when the Garnet host Montclair State at 7 p.m.
