ALLENTOWN, Pa.–With a berth in the upcoming Centennial Conference playoffs already secured, the 40th-ranked Swarthmore College women's tennis team won its seventh consecutive league match behind a 9-0 sweep of the Muhlenberg College Mules on Friday, April 21.
Swarthmore made quick work of the hosts in doubles as the duo of
Emma Kassan and
Anna Scheibmeir cruised to an 8-1 win at the top spot.
Shirline Wee and
Ashley Gao triumphed 8-2 at no. 2 while
Audrey Haring and
Nicole Khorosh won by an identical score to secure a 3-0 lead entering singles.
Kassan became a double winner behind a 6-0, 6-0 drubbing in first singles.
Amanda Izes nearly blanked her foe at sixth singles 6-0, 6-1 and
Audrey Haring joined her with a 6-1, 6-0 rout in the fifth spot. Wee won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles, Cuervo prevailed 6-3, 6-0 at no. 3 and Scheibmeir concluded the afternoon with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
Swarthmore hosts Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. in a match that carries postseason seeding implications for both teams. The Diplomats currently sit at 7-1 in the league.
