ALLENTOWN, Pa.–The 27th-ranked Swarthmore College men's tennis team remained perfect in conference play with a 9-0 blanking of the Muhlenberg College Mules on Wednesday, April 19.
The Garnet's dominance started in doubles as Swarthmore dropped only five games across the three courts.
John Larkin and
Blake Oetting had an 8-0 shutout at no. 2 while
Evan Han and
Simon Vernier won 8-1 at the third spot.
Josh Powell and
Ari Cepelewicz completed the sweep, 8-4, on court one.
Han rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at sixth singles for his second win of the afternoon. Powell and
Michael Song had identical 6-1, 6-1 routs at nos. 3 and 5, respectively, as Cepelewicz won 6-2, 6-0 at the fourth spot. Top singles player Larkin cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory while Vernier battled to a 7-5, 7-5 win in second singles.
The men's tennis team returns home to host Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m.
