TRINITY, Texas–The Swarthmore College women's tennis team concluded its Spring Break trip to Texas with a close, 5-4 loss to the 20th-ranked Trinity Tigers on Wednesday, March 8.
The Garnet faced a 3-0 hole after doubles, but nearly won the match on the back of its singles play. Freshmen
Emma Kassan won 7-5, 6-2 at first singles and
Vivien Fernandez cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the second spot. Classmate
Shirline Wee battle to a 7-6(7) result in the first set and closed out the match with a 6-4 second set. At fourth singles, sophomore
Julia Gokhberg eked out a 6-4, 6-7(2), 1-0(9) win over her opponent.
The women's tennis team has a break in match play until Saturday, March 25 when it opens Centennial Conference competition on the road against Gettysburg.
