GEORGETOWN, Texas–The Swarthmore College women's tennis team started its Spring Break trip with a 7-2 loss at Southwestern University (TX) on Monday, March 6.

Emma Kassan and Anna Scheibmeir gave Swarthmore a 1-0 lead at second doubles with an 8-6 triumph. Vivien Fernandez and Alli Wong were edged 6-8 in the first doubles spot and the Pirates took a 2-1 lead into singles.

Kassan became a double winner after a 6-0, 6-4 victory at first singles over Taite Drews-Jones. Wong dropped a narrow, 5-7, 4-6 match at the fifth spot as the Garnet fell to 0-2 on the season.

Swarthmore continues its trip against UT-Tyler on Tuesday, March 7 at 2 p.m. CST.
