SWARTHMORE, Pa.–Playing its first dual match in three weeks, the 40th-ranked Swarthmore College women's tennis team showed no signs of rust with a 9-0 sweep of the Ursinus Bears.
The Garnet were absolutely dominant in singles action as no player dropped more than two games in a single set.
Vivien Fernandez and
Alli Wong won by identical, 6-0, 6-0 scores at the second and fourth spot, respectively, while
Shirline Wee earned a 6-1, 6-0 drubbing of her opponent at third singles.
Emma Kassan and
Audrey Haring each triumphed 6-2, 6-1 in their respective flights of first and sixth while
Anna Scheibmeir cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at the fifth spot.
In double play, Wong and Fernandez were the first off the court in an 8-3 rout at first doubles. Wee teamed with
Ashley Gao for an 8-4 result at the second spot and the sophomore duo of
Rachel Hechinger and
Shivani Gupta won 8-5 at third doubles.
Women's tennis remains at home when it hosts conference foe Dickinson on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m.
