SWARTHMORE, Pa.–The Swarthmore College women's basketball team could not overcome a tough shooting night as it fell to the visiting Ursinus College Bears by a 51-33 score on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Maggie O'Neil was a force to be reckoned with in the paint, as she recorded six blocks and nine rebounds. Lindsay O'Sullivan totaled 12 points and chipped in seven boards while classmates Abigail Pirron and Elizabeth Stiles scored six apiece.

Swarthmore grabbed 20 boards on the offensive glass and finished 13-of-16 from the charity stripe for an 81.3 percent mark, but only managed 16.4 percent shooting from the field.

Ursinus began the game on a 9-0 run before the Garnet answered with eight of the next 10 points to bring it to 11-8 on a Stiles layup. The Bears sank a three as the first quarter expired and took a 14-8 advantage into the second.

The Bears capitalized on Swarthmore's cold shooting and entered the final period ahead by 16. Jumpers by O'Sullivan and Pirron helped bring it down to an 11-point deficit, but Swarthmore was unable to close the distance and left with its 10th consecutive loss.

The women's basketball team travels to nearby Bryn Mawr for a conference game on Thursday, Feb. 9 a 7 p.m. The Garnet won, 66-42, in the first meeting of the season.
