WESTMINSTER, Md.–A strong fourth quarter could not propel the Swarthmore College women's basketball team to victory as it suffered a 59-45 defeat to the McDaniel College Green Terror on Saturday, Feb. 4.
In the final period, Swarthmore shot 50 percent from the field as
Maggie O'Neil sank all three of her attempts behind the arc to go with three assists and three blocks. The Garnet limited the Green Terror to five points on 11.9 percent shooting and did not commit any personal fouls.

Lindsay O'Sullivan led Swarthmore with 14 points in 17 minutes off the bench and classmate
Elizabeth Stiles handed out four dimes and was a perfect 4-of-4 for eight points. Freshmen
Abigail Posta grabbed eight rebounds and
Abigail Pirron led the team with three steals.
The Garnet started the game slowly with eight turnovers and no points in the first 5:30. O'Sullivan scored to get the visitors on the board and combined with Stiles and Pirron for an 8-0 run to end the quarter at 15-10 in favor of the Green Terror. McDaniel, however, was able to expand its lead over the second and third periods and led by 25 entering the fourth.
Swarthmore returns to Tarble Pavilion when it hosts Ursinus College on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
