HAVERFORD, Pa.–The Swarthmore College women's basketball team fell to the conference-leading Haverford College Fords by a 57-31 score on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Freshman
Abigail Pirron logged 36 minutes and scored a team-high eight points while classmate
Lindsay O'Sullivan chipped in five. Pirron also grabbed eight boards while
Audra Woodside corralled six in 20 minutes off the bench.
The Garnet finished 7-of-8 from the line, including a perfect 4-of-4 mark from
Elizabeth Stiles, but struggled from the field. Turnovers also hurt Swarthmore's cause as the Fords turned 17 giveaways into 12 points.
The visitors opened the contest with baskets on the first two possessions, but were held off the scoreboard for the remainder of the quarter as Haverford amassed a 12-4 lead after one. The Fords carried a 30-11 lead into the break and increased their lead after the third. Swarthmore was narrowly outscored, 16-14, in the final quarter as Pirron scored six points down the stretch.
The women's basketball team wraps up the 2016-17 season on Saturday, Feb. 18 when it travels to Franklin & Marshall for a 1 p.m. conference tilt.
