SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 12 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball stifled the visiting Muhlenberg College Mules in the first half en route to an 81-69 win.
The Garnet (5-0, 2-0 Centennial) held the Mules (1-5, 0-2) to just seven points in the first 16 minutes of action and 14 points total in the half. Muhlenberg shot just 17 percent from the floor in the first period. The visitors made things a little more interesting in the second half by shooting 54 percent but were never able to catch the Garnet.
Cam Wiley scored 20 points and contributed six points and six rebounds in the win. Robbie Walsh registered 13 points with five rebounds and two blocks.
Zack Yonda posted 12 points, and Zac O'Dell chipped in 11 points and eight boards.
The Garnet posted a 23 rebound advantage of the Mules (48-25).
Swarthmore jumped to a 9-0 lead to begin the game. Yonda capped the run with a tough jumper in the lane, faking one way spinning and hitting a fadeaway shot.
Midway through the first, up 17-7, Swarthmore bolted to a 13-0 run. The Garnet closed out the half up by 25 with a last-second tip-in by Wiley.
The Garnet lead stayed at double digits the remainder of the game.
Swarthmore takes on Dickinson College on the road on Saturday.
