CHESTERTOWN, Md.--Swarthmore College Women's Soccer ran past the Washington College Shorewomen on the road Wednesday night. Swarthmore improved to 10-2 on the season (4-1 Centennial Conference) with the 3-1 win. The Shorewomen dipped to 6-5 and 1-4 in conference.
Katie Dougherty,
Maddy Carens and
Lizzie King all scored in the win.
The Garnet rattled off 21 shots, 13 on goal, while keeping the Shorewomen to just four shots and two on goal.
Swarthmore got on the board in the 29th minute with
Katie Dougherty knocking in a loose ball dropped by the Shorewomen goalkeeper.
In the 42nd minute,
Maddy Carens scored off a header from a long cross for her first collegiate goal.
The Garnet took a 2-0 lead into halftime and tacked on another goal in the 55th minute. Freshman
Lizzie King finished a corner play for her fifth goal of the season.
Washington College picked up a free kick goal in the 87th minute, but it was too little too late.
Swarthmore plays at Johns Hopkins University on Oct. 14.
