BALTIMORE–The Swarthmore College field hockey team fell by a 4-0 score to the homestanding Johns Hopkins Blue Jays on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Zelda Bank made seven saves in the cage, including four in the opening 10 minutes. Johns Hopkins scored twice about a minute apart in the first half and added another with five minutes remaining in the period. Bank denied a Hopkins shot in the waning moments of the half and Swarthmore trailed 3-0 heading into the second.
The Garnet controlled the pace of play to start the second with a series of penalty corners that resulted in three shots toward net, but were unable to put one on the board. Hutchinson had a shot on goal at 56:54 before Hopkins took possession and added one final marker in the final minute of play.
The field hockey team has a week until its next competition, a home contest against Gettysburg on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
