GETTYSBURG, Pa.–In its final game of the Gettysburg Tournament, the Swarthmore College women's basketball team fell by a 68-48 score to the Juniata Eagles on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Kayla Sembly paced the Garnet with 11 points and 
Abigail Posta pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. 
Lindsay O'Sullivan nearly collected a double-double on nine points and nine boards.
Swarthmore picked up 23 boards on the offensive glass, which led to 17 second-chance points, but were narrowly outrebounded by a 51-50 margin.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth contest with the Garnet leading by as many as four points. The Eagles managed to the game at 11 apiece with 57 seconds remaining in the period and answered a three by Sembly with one of their own to keep it deadlocked entering the second.
Swarthmore was outscored by a 21-5 margin and trailed 35-19 at halftime. O'Neil and O'Sulivan both recorded four points in the third, but the Garnet were unable to reduce their deficit.
Centennial Conference competition resumes on Thursday, Jan. 5 as Swarthmore hosts Bryn Mawr at Tarble Pavilion at 7 p.m.
