SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Soccer dropped Sunday afternoon's contest to the SUNY Geneseo Knights 2-0. The Garnet (1-1) put four shots on goal and took eight total shots in the game. Geneseo notched its first goal early in the contest and went on to take 21 shots through regulation.

Swarthmore goalkeeper Michael Thut corralled five saves in the loss.

The Garnet put two shots on goal in the first nine minutes, but Cameron Ricciardi and Omodayo Origunwa's attempts were denied. 

Geneseo found the back of the net in the end of the ninth minute on a goal by Matt D'Amico. Swarthmore had the chance to tie a minute later, but Billy Evers' shot was saved.

Later, three minutes into the second half, Geneseo scored its second goal. After Thut made a save, Geneseo's Ethan Gunty collected the rebound and finished for the score.

In a four-minute span midway through the second half, the Garnet earned three corner kicks but couldn't convert for a goal. Tommy Sheehan had a shot saved in the 70th minute and Ricciardi went for a header in the 74th minute that drifted wide of the upper right corner.

The Garnet split their slate in the 18th Annual Garnet Alumni Classic, having beaten Albright College 4-0 on Saturday. Swarthmore returns to the pitch on Wednesday at Widener University for Derby Day.
