CARLISLE, Pa.—No. 6 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer had to play from behind for the first time this season on Saturday, but didn't let the early setback impede them from coming home with a win. The Dickinson College Red Devils became the first team to score on the Garnet in 2016, finding the back of the net in the 16th minute. Despite the early 1-0 hole, Swarthmore rallied with two goals from sophomore forward
Marin McCoy and improved to 9-0 this season with the 2-1 win.
Swarthmore was just one of three NCAA Division III women's soccer programs to not concede a goal up to this point in the season. The shutout streak lasted 745 minutes and 30 seconds, 20 minutes longer than last season's run.
The Garnet out-shot the Red Devils 24-9 on Saturday and took 15 shots on goal to Dickinson's seven.
Swarthmore trailed until the beginning of the second half, when its two All-Americans from 2015 connected for the Garnet's first goal.
Caroline Khanna, who leads Swarthmore with five assists, crossed a pass to McCoy for her seventh goal of the season.
McCoy added her team-best eighth goal of the season in the 75th minute, ripping a shot into the top of the net.
Sydney Hunter earned the win in goal for the Garnet, tallying six saves.
Swarthmore, now 2-0 in Centennial Conference play, returns to action on Saturday at home against Johns Hopkins.
