SWARTHMORE, Pa.–Sophomore goalkeeper
Zelda Bank registered a career-high 19 saves for the Swarthmore College field hockey team (4-5, 0-2 CC) in Saturday's 4-0 loss to the visiting Dickinson Red Devils.
Dickinson controlled the majority of the game and held a 14-2 advantage in penalty corners. The visitors tested Bank early with two shots on goal in the first four minutes and got on the board at 5:17 by tapping the ball into net on a redirected shot from a corner.
Bank kept the Red Devils at bay as Swarthmore earned its first corner in the 11th minute, but were unable to put a shot toward goal. Bank made three saves in the span of a minute following a Garnet timeout before Dickinson doubled its lead to two with another goal from a corner play.
The Red Devils struck again shortly after and held a 3-0 advantage heading into half. In the second, Swarthmore generated more opportunities on offense, but were un able to take advantage on the counterattack and ultimately fell to a 4-5 record on the season.
The team looks to rebound on Wednesday, Sep. 28 when it travels to nationally-ranked Ursinus.
