SWARTHMORE, Pa.–The Swarthmore College field hockey team (4-4) suffered its first home loss of the season on Thursday, Sep. 22 as it fell 2-1 to the visiting Albright College Lions (5-1).
Ursula Monaghan tallied her first goal of the season with a successful penalty stroke at 47:22.

Zelda Bank registered double-digit saves for the second consecutive game with 13 denials against Albright.
The Garnet nearly took a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the game as
Kathleen Carmichael put a promising shot toward goal, but was denied by a diving save at close range from the Albright keeper.
The Lions countered with pressure and broke through at 12:32 as Amanda Long scored her seventh goal of the year with a five-hole shot after cleaning up a rebound. Albright doubled its advantage a few minutes later by slipping one in from the right side goal line.
In the second half, Bank faced a flurry of shots including a hard rip into the glove side in the 40th minute. Albright held a 13-5 advantage in corners and a 22-10 margin in total shots.
Swarthmore earned an opportunity at 46:48 with a corner and later converted it to a penalty stroke for Monaghan. The senior captain beat the keeper high to bring the Garnet within one goal and a chance for another overtime contest at Clothier Field. Monaghan registered two more shots on goal in the game and Bank made a series of saves on the other end to keep Swarthmore alive, but the hosts could not find the equalizer and fell to 4-4 on the year.
The Garnet host Dickinson College for a conference tilt on Saturday, Sep. 24 at 12 p.m.
