ASTON, Pa.—Swarthmore College Volleyball swept Rutgers-Camden and Neumann University on Friday at the Knights Invitational. The Garnet improved to 7-1 after picking up the pair of wins.
Swarthmore cruised to a 25-12, 25-10, 25-20 win the opening match with the Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors. The Garnet then concluded the evening against the hosts with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-13 victory.
Freshman
Mehra den Braven had the standout performance of the evening. Against Camden, den Braven hit .567, recording 17 kills on 30 attempts. Den Braven also provided five blocks.
Olivia Leventhal added nine kills on 14 attacks for a .643 hitting percentage against the Scarlet Raptors. With den Braven and Leventhal leading the way, the Garnet hit an efficient .301 for the match.
Malia Scott and
Elise Cummings split setting duties and tallied 15 and 14 assists, respectively.
In the nightcap, the Garnet hit .191 against the Knights. Swarthmore was more effective from the service line against Neumann, recording 12 aces.
Sarah Girard and
Elise Cummings led the Garnet with four aces each.
Junior
Sarah Wallace hit .333 for the match, tallying 14 kills. Wallace nearly recorded a double-double, adding eight digs. Sophomore libero
Sarah Girard dug out 14 attacks, a team-high. Cummings added 13 digs and had a team-high 18 assists.
Swarthmore recorded eight team blocks and freshman
Rachel Vresilovic had a team-high five blocks.
The Garnet return to the Knights Invitational on Saturday with matches against Moravian at 10 a.m. and Catholic at 2 p.m.
