MONTCLAIR, N.J.—Swarthmore College Women's Soccer handed Montclair St. University its first loss of the season, downing the Red Hawks 1-0. No. 9 Swarthmore improved to 6-0 with the win and upped its season-long shutout streak to 550 minutes.
Junior forward Katie Dougherty scored the game-winner in the 76th minute, her second goal of the season.
Between the posts, Sydney Hunter recorded four saves and earned the complete game win.
The first half presented four shots for each team, but in the second half Swarthmore tripled its attempts. Montclair St. took seven attempts in the second period.
Early in the 76th minute, Caroline Khanna attempted a shot, but had it denied. Before Montclair St. could clear the ball, Kinn-Gurzo dished to Dougherty who buried the shot for her second goal of the season.
The Red Hawks took a shot on goal in the 86th minute but their chance to tie was denied by Hunter.
Swarthmore returns home on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tilt against Franklin & Marshall College.
