NEWARK, N.J.—No. 12 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer notched another shutout on Sunday, topping Frostburg St. 3-0 in the final game of the 2016 Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic on the campus of Rutgers-Newark.
Marin McCoy scored all three Garnet goals to record her first hat trick of the season. McCoy leads the Garnet with five goals so far in 2016.
Sydney Hunter returned as the starting keeper on Sunday and recorded eight saves in the win.
McCoy cleaned up a corner kick bouncing in the box in the 20th minute for Swarthmore's first score. Early in the second half,
Hannah Lichtenstein slid a pass to McCoy who made the falling shot. Lichtenstein leads the Garnet with three assists this season.
At the end of the 62nd minute,
Caroline Coats crossed a pass from the right side to McCoy who slid in from the left side to meet the pass for the score.
The Garnet out-shot the Frostburg St. Bobcats 19-12.
Senior midfielder
Miranda Saldivar earned tournament MVP honors.
Swarthmore returns to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Montclair St.
