Narzikul, Kolln Record Hat Tricks In Loss To Shorewomen

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Briana Narzikul and Lizzie Kolln each found the back of the net three times in Wednesday's game against the visiting Washington College Shorewomen. The Garnet fell in what was the final home game of the season, 15-9.

Kolln dished to a cutting Narzikul for the game's first goal eight minutes into the contest. With Swarthmore playing a deliberate possession-focused offensive strategy, Washington looked to run-and-gun on any chance it got. The Shorewomen scored their first goal seconds after winning the next draw control. Washington dashed to an 8-1 lead in the first half.

Swarthmore chipped away and out-scored the Shorewomen in the second half, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.

Narzikul scored the next two Swarthmore goals, completing her hat trick with 21:44 to play.

Kathryn Restrepo added one of her two goals with 16:25 to play, and Kolln followed with her first goal with 14:05 left, cutting Washington's lead to 10-5.

Elizabeth Wainwright flushed a fastbreak goal with 8:44 left to make it a 12-6 game. Kolln scored her second a minute later and completed the hat trick with 6:37 to go and the score 13-8.

Kolln went 2-for-2 on free-position shots.

Washington's Katherine Vincent proved to be the difference in the contest. She scored eight goals and had two assists. Vincent was 4-for-4 on free-position attempts.

Tess Wild corralled a game-high five draw controls for Swarthmore. Emily Sokol and Shivani Chinnappan added two.

Connie Bowen recorded eight saves for Swarthmore.

The Garnet hit the road for the final game of the 2016 on Saturday. They play at Haverford at 1 p.m.
