SWARTHMORE, Pa.–In the final nonconference doubleheader of the season, the Swarthmore College softball team (10-16) silenced the bats of Rosemont College (0-14) in 6-0 and 11-0 shutout victories on Tuesday, April 12.
Freshman 
McKenzie Ward allowed only two hits and struck out 11 in game one while sophomore 
Emily Bowman fanned eight and conceded one walk and one hit in four innings during the nightcap.
Swarthmore scored its first run of the afternoon as 
Marit Vike walked with the bases loaded to bring home Ward, who had two hits and two runs in the contest. In the third, 
Anna Jensen drove in 
Elizabeth Curcio with a single up the middle for a 2-0 lead. The Garnet tacked another run on the board in the bottom of the fifth frame after a wild pitch allowed 
Amanda Lopez to cross the plate.
Three more runs came in the sixth as Bowman drove in Ward with a double and 
Frankie Ponziani plated 
Bekah Katz on a single through the left side. Curcio completed the scoring by bringing home Ponziani for the final 6-0 margin.
The Garnet continued on an offensive tear in the second game as Vike, Lopez, Katz, Ponziani and 
Hannah Thompson all finished with multiple hits. Swarthmore capitalized on seven hits and three errors in the first to take a commanding 8-0 lead over the Ravens and never looked back. The Garnet added runs in the second, third and fourth innings and ended the game early by mercy rule in the fifth.
The softball team remains at home for a Centennial Conference doubleheader against Dickinson College on Saturday, April 16 at 1 and 3:00 p.m.
