SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse fell to the No. 6 Gettysburg College Bullets 14-3 on Sunday in Centennial Conference play.
Elizabeth Wainwright, Kathryn Restrepo and Taylor Chiang each scored for the Garnet.
The Bullets out-shot the Garnet 34-13 and won the draw control battle as well, 13-5.
Senior goalie Connie Bowen recorded 10 saves.
Gettysburg darted to a quick goal off the opening draw, but Swarthmore replied three minutes later with Eliza Wainwright's 12th goal of the year. Tess Wild provided a nice pass over the defense to Wainwright who finished from off the right post.
Gettysburg increased the lead with a three-goal swing. Taylor Chiang cut the lead to two, working her way to the net and scoring while surrounded by three defenders with 12:47 to play in the first.
The Bullets then went on a 10-goal tear to take command of the contest. The Garnet got one back with 10:56 remaining when Shivani Chinnappan drove hard to the net and then dealt a pass to Restrepo who snuck in from from the cage and finished the close-range attack.
Swarthmore's leading scorer Lizzie Kolln had two unlucky breaks as one shot caromed off the post and another appeared to brush the net beneath the crossbar before rebounding out and not counting as a goal.
The Garnet are now tasked with preparing for the No. 5 team in the country, Franklin & Marshall, at home on Saturday.
