BOX SCOREWALLA WALLA, Wash.–In a battle of nationally-ranked squads, the No. 30 Swarthmore men's tennis team (3-2) fell 7-2 to No. 18 Whitman in the final of the Whitman Invite on Sunday, March 6.
The Garnet fell behind 3-0 after doubles for the first time this season. In singles action, junior
John Larkin fought for a 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (9) win at second singles and freshman
Simon Vernier was victorious at No. 4 by a 7-6, 6-3 score.
Mark Fallati battled at No. 1 singles, but fell in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 4-6 as did
Ari Cepelewicz at No. 3.
Swarthmore resume competition over spring break with a match against Division I opponent Portland State on Tuesday, March 8 at 4 p.m. PST (8 p.m. EST).
