CHESTERTOWN, Md.--Swarthmore College Men's Soccer scored three times on Tuesday evening, but couldn't hold off the Washington College Shoremen. The Shoremen (9-5-2, 5-1-2 Centennial) pulled away in the second half and finished with a 5-3 advantage.

Swarthmore fell to 7-9-1 overall and 3-5-0 in Centennial play with the loss. 

The Garnet held a slight advantage in shots, 16-14, and shots on goal, 9-8.

Swarthmore jumped to an early lead when freshman Daniel Lee, making his first start, capitalized on a Washington turnover and beat the goalie one-on-one for the goal in the start of the third minute. 

A foul in the start of the ninth minute set up a Swarthmore free kick for Tommy Sheehan. Sheehan found Billy Evers for the header and his first goal of the night.

Washington responded with a goal 50 seconds later to pull within one. In the 16th minute, Evers scored again on a header set up by a Sheehan free kick.

Washington pulled within one with a goal in the 38th minute, but Swarthmore held the 3-2 lead going into the break.

The Shoremen rallied for three more goals in the second half, scoring in the 55th, 85th, and 90th minutes.

Swarthmore wraps up the regular season on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Haverford College.
