GLENSIDE, Pa.--Swarthmore College Field Hockey pulled within one goal of the Arcadia University Knights in the second half of Saturday's road game, but the Knights pulled away to an 8-3 win over the Garnet.

Laura Hyder, Sierra Spencer and Ursula Monaghan each tallied a goal for the Garnet in the loss.

Arcadia's Lauren Ransegnnola scored twice in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Swarthmore responded with a penalty stroke goal at the end of the 19th minute by senior Laura Hyder.

Swarthmore trailed 2-1 going into halftime, and Arcadia added another pair of goals within a two-minute span early in the second period. Spencer finished a pass from Clare Perez in front of the cage, tucking the shot into the left corner of the goal and narrowing Swarthmore's deficit to two. Monaghan pulled Swarthmore within one on a long, high shot that flew past the goalkeeper.

However, after Monaghan 's goal in the 52nd minute, Arcadia rallied for four unanswered goals to close out the game.

Swarthmore hosts Stockton at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
