HOBOKEN, N.J.--Swarthmore College Men's Soccer concluded a four-game road trip on Wednesday night that hasn't been kind to the Garnet. The Garnet, after being clipped 1-0 by nationally ranked teams in the previous two games, fell 5-0 to the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks.
The Ducks ran out to an early lead, scoring on a header in the start of the third minute. Stevens took four more shots in the first 18 minutes of play. Garnet goalkeeper
Tyler Zon saved the two shots that were on target in that span. The Garnet finally got their first shot of the game in the 44th minute, but Alec McLean's header attempt struck the post. Stevens struck again in the 45th, just before halftime, completing a corner kick with a goal off a header.
Swarthmore recorded one shot on goal, an attempt by
Billy Evers in the 50th minute.
Stevens expanded its lead with goals in the 52nd, 62nd and 78th minutes and improved to 5-1-1. Swarthmore fell to 3-5 on the year. The Garnet return home for conference games on Saturday against Johns Hopkins University and then next Wednesday against Muhlenberg College.
