BOX SCOREBALTIMORE – The Swarthmore College men's tennis team fell 5-0 to Johns Hopkins University on Sunday, May 3 as the Blue Jays claimed their ninth straight Centennial Conference title.
Freshmen
Mark Fallati and
Ari Cepelewicz fought at No. 1 doubles against Jeremy Dubin and Nicholas Garcia, but ultimately fell by an 8-5 score.
In singles action, freshman
Blake Oetting nearly took the first set at the No. 4 spot against Noah Joachim, but was edged out 7-5. The Jays claimed victories at fifth and sixth singles to clinch the match and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Garnet finished the season with a 13-6 overall record and an 8-1 mark in conference competition. Swarthmore regularly featured as many as six freshmen in its lineup and will lose only one senior to graduation, both of which bode well for the future.
