BOX SCORESWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (9-8 CC 5-5) concluded its regular season with a 9-0 loss at home to Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 25.
Hopkins, currently ranked sixth nationally by the ITA, first took all three doubles matches, but not without a fight from freshmen
Ashley Gao and
Rachel Bronkema at No. 2. The pair fell 8-5 to Sunaina Vohra and Carolina Greydak.
The Garnet continued to compete in singles. Freshman
Anna Scheibmeir played a close first set against Vohra at No. 2 before falling 6-4, 6-0, while Bronkema battled in her 6-3, 6-3 match with Macie Wilkins.
Swarthmore is slated to return all nine members next season.
Notes: With a young group consisting of six freshmen and one sophomore on its nine-player roster, Swarthmore fell just shy of qualifying for the Centennial Conference Tournament as the fifth seed following today's action around the league. The Garnet lost a tiebreaker after Muhlenberg defeated Dickinson later in the day.
