BOX SCORECARLISLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (9-6, CC 5-3) won its second straight conference match against Dickinson by a score of 7-2 on Saturday, Apr. 18.
The Garnet opened the match with a sweep of doubles competition. Sophomore
Alli Wong and freshman
Maria Cuervo earned the first team point at No. 1, defeating Joana Nunes and Madison Parks, 8-4. Freshmen
Ashley Gao and
Rachel Bronkema followed suit at No. 3 with an 8-3 victory over Stuart Lemay and Elizabeth Marin. Closing out the sweep at No. 2, junior
Abby Schmidt and freshman
Anna Scheibmeir prevailed over Sarah Cantor and Emily Sprague, 9-7.
Wong quickly earned her second win, beating Nunes 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Gao clinched the match with her 6-4, 6-2 win over Cantor at No. 4.
At No. 3, Scheibmeir held on in three sets, claiming a 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 victory over Lemay. Rounding out the lineup at No. 6, Bronkema handled Marin, 7-5, 6-1.
Swarthmore will next take on Haverford College on Thursday, Apr. 23.
