Saturday, February 28.
The Garnet started off strong in doubles, winning two of the three matches. Freshmen
Rachel Bronkema and
Ashley Gao opened with an 8-4 victory over Nicole Schnabel and Jazmin Colling at No. 3. The No. 2 team of junior
Jackie Lane and freshman
Anna Scheibmeir followed suit, edging out Mari Tzakis and Madeline King, 9-8(4).
In singles play, the Wildcats ultimately claimed the first five matches in hard-hitting fashion. At No. 6, Gao blocked an NYU singles sweep when she overcame Alexandra Ziarko by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
The women will continue
tomorrow and host Millsaps College at 10 a.m. in the Mullan Center.
