SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Field Hockey equalized Wednesday afternoon's game with the Muhlenberg College Mules with 17 minutes remaining, but the Mules slotted home the game-winning goal with just over a minute left to take the game 3-2.

Zelda Bank recorded 16 saves. The Mules peppered Swarthmore with 30 total shots aided by their 16 penalty corners. Swarthmore was efficient with its shots on goal, scoring both of their goals on their first three shots on goal.
The Garnet fell behind in the seventh minute after Muhlenberg scored on a deflection in front of the cage.
Erin Gluck equalized the score in the 20th minute, after getting a quick pass from
Kathleen Carmichael in the circle. In the 33rd minute, Muhlenberg's Emily Davis slalomed through Swarthmore's defense en route to scoring the Mules' second goal.
Monaghan evened up the game in the 54th minute after a corner.
Jane Blicher received the insert and passed to Monaghan at the top of the circle. Monaghan slapped home the goal to tie the game at 2-2.
The Garnet created a chance to go ahead in the 65th minute when Gluck struck hit a hard hit ball that went across the goalmouth and pinged off the left post. Muhlenberg then regained the lead in the 69th minute on a close-range attempt. Swarthmore proceeded to take the ball downfield and earned four consecutive corners to close out the game. Monaghan put a shot on goal, but the shot was turned away and Muhlenberg held on to win.
Swarthmore plays a home non-conference game against Ferrum College on Saturday for Senior Day.
