COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College volleyball team (16-3, 6-0 CC) earned its 15th consecutive win on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 14 with a 3-0 sweep of Ursinus College (5-14, 0-6 CC).
Malia Scott had a complete stat line with 10 digs, nine assists, six kills, and three service aces.
The Garnet made quick work of the Bears by a 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 score in a match that lasted just over an hour.
In the first set, Swarthmore won seven of the first 10 points and limited Ursinus to a -.115 hitting percentage with three kills and six errors on 26 attempts. The Garnet carried its momentum into the second frame and trailed only once during the set after conceding the first point. Swarthmore completed the sweep in the third to remain undefeated against Centennial opponents and alone at the top of the conference standings.
The team showcased its depth in the win as every player on the roster appeared in at least one set. Senior
Madison Heppe led the way with 18 digs as
Sarah Girard finished with 10 and
Elise Cummings, who also chipped in seven assists, totaled nine.
Alice Liu hit .375 with seven kills and one error in 16 attempts and
Bridget Scott posted a match-high two solo blocks.
The volleyball team will play two matches on Saturday, Oct. 17 with a Centennial showdown against host McDaniel at 12:00 p.m. and a 2:00 p.m. match against non-conference opponent Lebanon Valley.
