Anthony Collard was among four double winners as the Swarthmore College men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over McDaniel on Wednesday, Apr. 9 at Faulkner Courts.
Swarthmore captured all six singles matches, which included Collard defeating his opponent by identical set scores of 6-1 at the top spot. Freshman
John Larkin earned 6-2 set victories at the No. 2 singles, while senior
Preston Poon knocked off Satchel McCarthy 6-1, 6-1. Seniors
Christian Carcione and
Dan Park as well as
Thomas Vernier also won their matches to complete a singles sweep.
The Garnet began the afternoon by winning their No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by scores of 8-3. Collard, Vernier, Park and Carcione all factored into the two victories that gave the hosts a 2-0 lead to start the day. McDaniel picked up its only point at No. 1 doubles, as Seth McFall and Satchel McCarthy outlasted Swarthmore's
Max Kaye and
Harrison Lands by an 8-6 mark.
Swarthmore (6-6, CC 3-0) will look to stay unbeaten in Centennial Conference play when it hosts Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 1 p.m.
