BOX SCORESWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (9-9) advanced to the Centennial Conference semifinals with a 5-0 domination of Muhlenberg at home on Wednesday, April 30 in the Mullan Center.
Avenging a regular season loss, the Garnet first earned all three doubles points. At No. 1, senior
Lia Carlson and freshman
Alli Wong defeated Nina Sanders and Emily Szulman 8-1. Seniors
Katie Samuelson and
Brooke Wilkins handled Sara Finger and Sharon Resnikoff by the same score at No. 2 doubles. Junior
Gayatri Iyengar and sophomore
Jackie Lane completed the sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3.
Carlson and Wong picked up their second wins for the day to clinch the match. Carlson defeated Finger at No. 1 6-2, 6-1, and Wong shut out her opponent at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0.
Swarthmore will travel to #3 Johns Hopkins for the semifinals on Saturday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m.
