BOX SCORESWARTHMORE, Pa. – Led by its senior class, the Swarthmore College men's tennis team defeated Haverford by an 8-1 score on Saturday, Apr. 26 at the Faulkner Courts. With the victory, the Garnet clinched the second seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament.
Swarthmore started the day by winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior
Anthony Collard and freshman
Thomas Vernier registered an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while seniors
Dan Park and
Christian Carcione downed their opponents at No. 3 doubles by an 8-4 decision.
The Garnet then swept all six singles matches in straight sets to run away with the victory. Collard, senior

Preston Poon and Carcione all picked up points to allow the hosts to run away with the win.
Swarthmore (11-7, CC 8-1), which is seeded second in the Centennial Conference Tournament, will host third-seeded Haverford in a semifinal match on Saturday, May 3 at a time to be determined.
