BOX SCORESWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (7-7, 6-1 CC) earned its second consecutive conference win in as many days against Dickinson College at home on Saturday, April 19.
The Garnet continued its doubles domination, sweeping all three matches. Senior
Lia Carlson and freshman
Alli Wong rallied at No. 1 for an 8-5 win against Shannon Lavery and Maddy Altholtz. At No. 2, seniors
Katie Samuelson and
Brooke Wilkins won by the identical score against Sydney Diamond and Claire Stoner. Junior
Gayatri Iyengar and sophomore
Jackie Lane dominated Sarah Cantor and Madison Parks, 8-3.
Lane continued her strong play as she picked up the team's first singles point at No. 6. She dropped only two games en route to a 6-2, 6-0 win against Stoner. Samuelson followed next, winning at No. 2 by a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Three singles matches were three-set encounters, with Carlson, Wong, and Wilkins all pulling out victories. Carlson rallied at No. 1 to beat Lavery, 6-1, 5-7, 10-6, while Wong held strong at No. 3, defeating Diamond, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. Wilkins picked up the final point for the Garnet at No. 5, holding on in the third set to narrowly edge Nunes 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
Swarthmore, which is on the verge of clinching a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament, travels to Muhlenberg on Tuesday, Apr. 22 for a 4:00 p.m. match.
