BOX SCORESWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (6-7, CC 5-1) dismissed Bryn Mawr by a score of 8-1 on Friday, Apr. 18 at the Faulkner Courts.
The match featured strong doubles play with the Garnet capturing all three matches. At No. 1, senior
Lia Carlson and freshman
Alli Wong shut out Viven Chen and Jenny Vogel, starting the team's roll. At No. 2, seniors
Katie Samuelson and
Brooke Wilkins cruised to an 8-1 victory and at No. 3, junior
Gayatri Iyengar and sophomore
Jackie Lane won by the same score.
The team completed the match by winning five of the six singles matches. Carlson rolled at No. 1, dropping two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win against Chen. Samuelson picked up her second point for the day at No. 2 and Wong followed at No. 3.
Wilkins and Lane rounded out the Garnet lineup, dominating at No. 5 and 6, respectively. Wilkins picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory, and Lane only dropped one game, beating Abraham, 6-0, 6-1.
Swarthmore resumes conference play tomorrow at home against Dickinson College. Action will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Faulkner Courts.
