Christian Carcione was a double winner on the day and clinched the team victory with his win at No. 6 singles.
In doubles action, Carcione paired with senior
Dan Park to post an emphatic 8-0 win at No. 3 against Tyler Tisdale and Jacob Thigpen to capture the team's lone doubles point.
The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles points went to Stevens, but the Garnet men rebounded with strong singles play. At No. 2 singles, senior
Max Kaye dominated Ben Foran by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Senior
Preston Poon earned the No. 3 singles point, battling to win two close sets 7-6, 6-4. Junior
Irving Stone also notched a win in singles, downing Antonio Perch at No. 5 by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Stevens' singles points came at No. 1 and No. 4, but they were not enough to defeat the Garnet men. Carcione earned his second win of the day and clinched the match against Brett Derrington at No. 6 singles. He cruised through the first set 6-1, and held off his opponent 6-4 in the second set.
The Swarthmore men are now 2-0 on the season and look to continue their winning streak when they travel to California for spring break. They will compete against Skidmore College on Wednesday, March 12 and in the Stags/Hens Invivtational Tournament on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15.
