Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College field hockey team fell by a 13-1 decision to sixth-ranked Ursinus on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Snell Field.
After Megan Keegan put Ursinus (7-1, CC 4-0) on the board in the fourth minute, the hosts pulled away by finding the back of the cage three times in a span of 2:27. Devin Brakel and Keegan each finished the opening half with two goals and one assist to pace the Bears' offensive attack.
Ursinus, which led 8-0 at the break, found the back of the cage five more times in the second half before the Garnet responded with a goal of their own. Freshman
Shivani Chinnappan recorded her first career goal in the 66th minute by driving through the left side and beating keeper Sydney Godby to the near post.
The Bears' Danielle DeSpirito and Godbey combined for the shutout in goal. Junior
Ainsley Parrish made seven saves in the setback for the Garnet.
Swarthmore (1-9, CC 0-3) will remain on the road to face Johns Hopkins on Friday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m.
