Box Score BALTIMORE - The Swarthmore College volleyball team forced five sets at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action, falling 3-2 (18-25, 25-17, 13-25, 25-23, 10-15).
Swarthmore (11-4, 1-1 CC) was led defensively by senior
Danielle Sullivan and sophomore
Madison Heppe with 12 digs apiece, while junior
Kate Amodei had nine. The team finished with 12 total blocks - including solo blocks from Sullivan and
Brone Lobichusky '14.
For the attack, Sullivan and junior
Chastity Hopkins swung seven kills and Lobichusky finished with nine in the effort. Sophomore setter
Sam DuBois collected 24 assists on the day in addition to two block assists and kills.
Johns Hopkins (7-6, 2-0 CC) had three players in double-digit digs and the front line had 17 total blocks. Caitlin Callihan led the attack with 23 kills and Megan Cohan swung 15 in the winning effort.
Swarthmore will return to action on Tuesday, October 1 hosting Washington College at 7:00 p.m. in its annual Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night.
