SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team soundly defeated Gettysburg College by a score of 7-2 at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Garnet rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles to earn the victory against the Bullets.
Junior Lia Carlson was a double winner for the day, partnering with junior Brooke Wilkins to earn the team's doubles point at number one. They downed Haymans/Keyes 8-6. Carlson also earned a win at number one singles against Haymans (6-1, 6-0).
All three of the team's seniors earned singles victories. Emily Rosenblum dominated at number two singles, dropping only one game (6-0, 6-1) against Rodriguez. Kelsey Johnson also had a strong performance at number three singles, earning a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Stephanie Chia battled against Habecker, eventually winning in a second-set tiebreaker 6-4, 7-6 (6).
Rounding out the singles winners for the Garnet were juniors Katie Samuelson (6-2, 6-1) and Epiphany English (6-0, 6-3) at numbers five and six respectively.
The team returns to the court Sunday, April 7 at noon against non-conference opponent The College of New Jersey.
