CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (5-2, 3-0) remained unbeaten in conference play with a 6-3 road victory at Washington College on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Emily Rosenblum and senior Kelsey Johnson were double-winners on the afternoon for Swarthmore, which moves to 3-0 in Centennial competition.
The Garnet jumped out a 2-1 lead by taking No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Junior Lia Carlson and Rosenblum were dominant at the No. 1 spot (8-0) while freshman Jackie Lane and Johnson teammed up to win at No. 3 (8-3).
In singles, Swarthmore won No. 2, 3, 4 and 6 singles to take the important conference match. Junior Katie Samuelson was the first winner, defeating Washington's Gyeyeon Kang 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot. She was followed by victories from Johnson (6-3, 6-3) and junior Brooke Wilkins (6-2, 6-3) at the No. 3 and 6 slots, respectively. Rosenblum sealed the match with 6-3, 6-1 win over the Shorewomen's Campbell McNicol (6-4, 6-1) from the No. 2 spot.
Swarthmore returns home and hosts Gettysburg on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
