SWARTHMORE, Pa. - In a battle of Centennial unbeatens, No. 6 Johns Hopkins earned a 9-0 victory over the Swarthmore College women's tennis team on Saturday morning from the Faulkner Courts.
With the win, The Blue Jays (15-2, 9-0) clinched the top seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference tournament. With the loss, the Garnet (12-3, 8-1) earn the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 3 seed Dickinson in the semifinals on Saturday. The location of that match will be determined on Monday.
The Blue Jays jumped in front 3-0 following doubles, posting victories of 8-2, 8-3 and 8-3. In singles, Hopkins did not drop a set to Garnet. Junior Lia Carlson put up a fight at No. 1 singles (7-5, 5-2), but was forced to retire in the second set.
Time and location of Saturday's Centennial Conference semifinal will be determined on Monday morning.
