SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (9-2, 6-0) picked up its sixth straight conference win against Franklin and Marshall on Saturday from the Faulkner Courts.
The team won 9-0, sealing its third shutout of the season against conference opponents.
Senior Emily Rosenblum and junior Lia Carlson earned the first point for the Garnet, winning at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-2. No. 2 and No. 3 doubles were closer contests, but both Swarthmore teams earned victories. Senior Stephanie Chia and junior Epiphany English won 9-7 at No. 2, defeating Sleeper/Lackey, and senior Kelsey Johnson and freshman Jackie Lane earned a 9-8 (2) win at No. 3.
Carlson, Rosenblum, Chia, and Johnson were all double winners for the day as all of the Garnet singles players won their matches decisively in straight sets. Carlson won at No. 1 (6-1, 6-3), Rosenblum at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), Johnson at No. 3 (6-3, 7-5), and Chia at No. 4 (6-0, 6-3).
Rounding out the singles lineup for the Garnet were junior Katie Samuelson and sophomore Gayatri Iyengar. Samuelson earned a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 5, and Iyengar downed Lackey 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.
The team will look to continue its conference winning streak at Bryn Mawr College on Friday, April 19 at 4:00.
